dreams and realities

Someday when I have a spare $2,181, my dream is to have this beautiful Earo Saarinen 41" marble coated dining table in my dining room (yeah, I don't even have my own dining room yet...). It's one of those pieces that would last forever and match almost any decor you would ever have. Lovely. These tables first went into production in 1957... happy 50th to you, pretty table. You can get one from Design Within Reach in lots of different colors and styles. Yay!

Okay so in reality, I will probably never ever drop that much cash on a table. In the meantime, some more realistic "almost there" options for a lot less money are out there. They are still awfully fun.

Trusty Ikea. Only $149!

CB2 has a similar one for $169. Seems to be of better quality than Ikea's version.

Fun fun!

Wow! Nice table! I alternate ones looks great too though. I really really could use s new dining set. Ours has about 10 years of painting, crafting, scratching and denting etched into it. Plus it was a hand me down and never matched my kitchen. But it does the job all the same.
